Carrbrook Contest

In 1981 a group of Brass Band enthusiasts in the Carrbrook area were aware of the interest in the competition of many residents.  A committee was formed, fund raising began and the first contest was held in 1982.  This was an immediate success and it has continued until the present day.

Carrbrook is a picturesque village nestling in the Pennines which enjoys conservation status.  We are located just off the B6175, the main route of the Whit Friday circuit. Carrbrook is two and a half miles from Stalybridge and two and three quarter miles from Saddleworth, making it an ideal half way house between the two competitions.

On arrival coaches enter the Village following a well signposted and marshalled route that is a one way system. We keep waiting times to a minimum.  Bands disembark at the Bowling Green ad assemble at the top of Carr Rise to prepare for the 60 yard march to the playing venue where a raised stage will be waiting for you. 

The contest is very family orientated and we provide a variety of refreshments.  Tea, coffee and soft drinks, hot dogs and sweets will be available to buy from the scouts in their tent and the Ice Cream man will also be on site .  The Buckton Vale Institute will be serving and, weather permitting, an outside bar too.  Good old fashioned meat and potato pie will also be being served this year so everyone will be catered for.
