Notes from the President of the BBBA 2024

 

Welcome to the 2024 Whit Friday Brass Band Contest, and thank you for joining us at Ashton Rugby Club!

 

I’m delighted to be writing for my first time as President of the Broadoak Brass Band Association. As an avid fan of the Brass Band Contest since childhood, it is a real privilege to be involved in the organisation of the contest, and a huge honour to be asked to serve as President.

 

The Broadoak contest has a rich history, having originally been hosted at The Broadoak Hotel before moving a few hundred yards down the road to our current venue, Ashton Rugby Club. We are proud to boast fantastic facilities for the travelling bands, as well as an ever reliable great turnout from the local community. It is this sense of community amongst our audience that makes our venue so special and I look forward to another wonderful event this year.

 

I want to give my thanks to the outgoing members of the committee for the service they have given to the contest over the years. Our event would not be what it is today without their years of dedication and hard work. I also want to say a huge thank you to the new committee and all of our volunteers for the huge efforts in putting on this year's event.

 

Finally, let me say thank you to you, our spectators, for your continued support for our event. I hope you have a very enjoyable evening with us at Ashton Rugby Club.
